Toyota's iast forever even buying part to fix it is cheap.you can't go wrong with a Ford Ranger either.
I would say most any car built within the last 10 years will be reliable, if the previous owner maintaned it.I drove Toyotas from 1974 till 2005 and then bought a Dodge RT Magnum and worried about reliability, but knock on wood, it has been perfect for 160,000 miles. One concern about buying a 10 year old Toyota, if you live in the rust belt like me (Maine) Toyotas and all Japanese cars as a rule rust very fast. A Volvo wagon would be a good choice, I've seen friends buy old ones for $2,000 and drive them forever. Safe, comfortable, boring car.
