  • As long as the officer did not fraudulently gain the info, yes. For example, if he lied to your employer and said that he had a warrant for the info but didn't, that would be illegal. As for sharing information, it depends on what the details are. If the details are just that you are under investigation, or we think you committed this, that is certainly legal. There is very little that a cop is prohibited from disclosing.
