  • That's a subjective question, but I would venture to say that if it is treated properly it should last for no less than 5 years (or more). Let's see, in our household we have a few relics: a Sega, Nintendo, and Playstation that are all about 10 years old and they have seen a lot of use and wear. They have moved no less than 5 times and survived and have never needed a repair or had any problems. Of course, we took good care of them as we do all of our electronics. They were kept dust free, out of the sun, out of humidity, and never thrown against a wall in frustration (though it was tempting MANY times). Hope this answer helps.
  • The mobo part of it should last a LONG time... but I have a v1.0 box (bought first day on market) and the Thomson drive started giving me the "Dirty Disc" error about a year ago. The DVD is the first to go, followed by the HD probably, and finally perhaps the power supply. My system then lasted about 4 years - later systems with better DVD drives (Samsung sd-605 or HP) should fare better.
  • I got one with the samsung drive and it worked just for 3 years and a half, which I consider poor compared to my other systems (nes 18yo, snes 11yo, n64 7yo) which are still working and never gave me any problems. I'll switch back to nintendo for next gen consoles.
  • Weeks if abused - a couple of years if treated well. X boxes are bad for overheating and having their chips become unstuck from the circurt board - often shorting them out.
  • About 4 or 5 seconds if you dropped it from a seven storey apartment ;) Seriously though, taken care of I'd say between 2 and five years
  • Depends how you look after it. Could last up to 5 years in good condition longer if you don't use it so much but baring in mind every year or 2 a new console comes out and after a while you can't get games for your older version console.
  • angie is funny i had mine for 2 years but my bro peed on it
  • Well mine lasted 1 year cause my little bros kept playing all day and it burned. Well really it depends.
