  • Never heard this one, but here you go... http://www.snopes.com/risque/aphrodisiacs/mandms.asp
  • lol-i have no idea but this is an old one-do wonder how it got started and i will check back to see-maybe someone will know--cool question--have some points
  • It probably originated from a guy who was being hand fed Green M&M's by a woman with a great pair of Ta Ta's ;-)
  • It is not the M&M's but the color. Realistically green gummi bears prolly make people horny too. They say that bulls are color blind and are attracted to the waving of the cape rather than the color red. But because of the myth that it's the color is why red is usually associated with anger. But actually studies show that blue makes people have angrier thoughts than red. Colors can trigger emotions and thoughts which is why the green M&M's. Cos green makes people horny. As for why it is M&M's as opposed to any other candy that part I dunno.
  • No matter if you believe this or not, I was the one who started the joke back in 1980 or 81. I was working at a skating rink in Kentucky and dating this girl named Karen. She and I were sharing a bag of M&M's and she picked up a green one. I made an off the cuff remark about the green ones making you "horny". She thought it was funny and seductively popped that one in her mouth. Stunned me, heh. Later I told my brother Keith about it and he saved up several thousand of them in a candy jar and gave them to his girlfriend Jo Anne (she heard the joke). Don't know what her reaction was to it but we kidded her about it for a while. In any event, the stories of these two incidents got around to our friends and snowballed from there. Found your post after I was on the Mythbusters site and also saw almost the same question posted there. I posted a response there and this is the first time in all these years I have ever said anything about it. So in closing, there was no factual basis for green M&M myth, just a stupid little joke I made to my girlfriend. That's all. Have a good one, William.
  • Sorry, William, you are not the creator of the Green M&M myth. I can recall the "green M&M's make you horny" myth going back to 1978 in upstate NY York. In fact, I can remember one "party" that summer of '78 when we picked out all the green M&Ms in a bowl of M&Ms in order to avoid any "effects." So, the green M&M myth dates back at least to the late 1970s, and I'm betting even earlier than that, but likelt was a regional "urban legend" that slowly moved around the states.
  • Dear Jango, As I said, it doesn't make any difference to me if people beleive it or not but that is how it got started. I may not be correct with the dates, but that IS how it began. Someone brought it up to me a while back about it being on Mythbusters and that's why I looked it up on the web. The only two places I replied to this was here and on the Mythbusters site. If someone really wanted to push the issue they could easily set up a polygraph which I would be more than happy to take. In addition to that, I know enough people from that time who were around when it was started who can verify it. So in closing I expected responses like this. I understand where you are coming from. I am not seeking any recognition or publicity from this. It was just a stupid joke between my girlfriend at the time and me that kinda took a life of its own. Someone asked the question here and I answered it. That's all. If you don't believe it that's fine.
