• it has been my observation that the worst the beer for drinking, the better it is for cooking (something to do with the sugar in it I think, similar to cooking wines and sherry I guess). but I have not tried beer bread. beers that I have found best for cooking...Red White and Blue, Olympia, Loembrwa. but go cheap. if nothing else, you save money until you find what it is you like.
  • A good dark one with lots of yeasty flavor really adds to bread.
  • Guinness makes good beer bread.
  • 3-7-2017 I made beer bread once and used some cheap brand, don't even remember what it was. You do want a very beery tasting brew. Beer bread is ok, but it's not something I go looking for. I prefer my bread with mashed potatoes, onions, and cheese.
