  • I think that some people may have a legit reason for doing that, even though illegal, there may be no other choice in their eyes. Imagine a person who can barely afford a used car, but needs one in order to maintain employment and thus survive. They can barely afford gas, their insurance is about to lapse for non-payment, but they still need that car to get to work or they will lose the job and lose their home. Imagine now, that the person has kids. Imagine there is a choice between waiting a couple extra weeks to register the car and feeding your children, or having legit tags and your children starve. This is a good example of an issue that cops should get all the facts about before just arresting someone. You never know why someone does something. It may be a reason that is understandable, or it may not.
  • this just happened to me last night, i purchased a truck in Oklahoma from a dealership that was going out of business. I was given a driveout tag, i expected my title for the vehicle to come in the mail, but it never did. i contacted the company i financed the vehicle through and they said i should have been given the title by the dealer, they never did. So mean while i went to the DMV where they said they could not issue me a tag until this is resolved. So i changed the dates on my tag. The vehicle is insured, but it is impossible to register the vehicle. What should i have done in that case??? I was between a rock and a hard place.
