I suggest lots of ice to prevent or reduce swelling (in lieu of an ice pack, a bag of frozen peas or corn held to the jaw works great). Plus, ice pops are good, they taste good, give you some liquid, and since they're frozen, they'll feel good and soothing against the site and also help with the swelling. Also, an arnica gel or cream from a health food store applied topically to the outside jaw area. Arnica is great for bruising and swelling. Get a good quality brand, though. Plus, of course, rinse periodically with salt water. Good luck!! Wisdom teeth can be rough, but when it's all over you will never have to think about them ever again in your life....and that is a great thing!!

Oil of Cloves was traditionally used for toothache, but there are lots of people who are allergic to it. Besides, I would speak to the dentist first to see if it were okay to use on an extraction.
