In the short run and perhaps will boost the dollar against other currencies. In the long run no but, a recession we can not blame the government. Recessions is corrective action on a economy that operates on credit and not cash flow. The businesses here is this country and many others have over extended and are in debt...no cash.

So what goes up must come down. This temporary insertion of cash to consumers will be delaying the inevitable.

Unfortunately, no. But I will take the money anyways. I will put it to use like they want me to and buy something expensive, but we are already in a recession. This is nothing more than an attempt to make us feel like we are doing better than we already are.

No. it sounds good on the surface, but its just a bandaid covering the real problems.

If a single person or couple investes the money, then it might work.

Lets be frank, how many alcoholics and drug users are foaming at the mouth, waiting for their check to arrive? no help to the economy here, except to the drug dealers /convenience stores.

This reminds me of the thousand dollar debit cards issued to supposedly victims of the Kartrina hurricane. how was this money used? how many people had more than one debit card and did the Federal Government do anything about it? no.

    Sorry, my answer is no.

Honesty I think it is a very short sided plan to give people a false sense of security that all is well in the United States. It is a stop gap measure that is a great diversion for people to think about, it seems like a wonderful plan but it is just another package that is adding more debt in the long run.

might give it a little bump-mostly it gives the appearence of doing something when in reality it does nothing but increase the debt-i would really like to see the government cut out spending an equal amount on a permanent basis so the savings keeps going on-they can take less out of my check each week----cool question-smile and enjoy the night

Yeah, about as much as putting a bandaid on a severed limb would.
