Most of the time yes. As long as the gun is unloaded, out of immediate reach of persons in the vehicle, and ammo is kept in a completely different location, again out of immediate reach. and you have your registration on you at all times. Just use commonsense. that's usually the key.

In Texas you dont even have to have a permit to carry a LOADED gun in your car now. Im sure in most states you can carry a unloaded gun. If you couldnt then how would you take it to the gun range to shoot it? If that was the case why even own a gun.
