Soak the doilie in liquid starch for a few minutes then hang on clothline and let dripdry as it dries it stiffens.
Maybe you could try normal spray starch.
My Mom used to do it with sugar water. Just dissolve sugar in a bowl of water, and soak the doilies a few minutes, then cover with a thin cloth and iron.
