Usually people use forms of rationalization to justify going against their consciences, such as "everyone else gets away with it", "it's only this one time", "no one is really getting hurt". It all boils down to convenience. It's often harder to be "good" because it requires self-discipline and effort.

If they knew going in that what they were about to do would be bad, they were not all that "good" to begin with. If, however, they did something that had unintended consequences, that is altogether different. You live and learn. Many so-called "good" people are only good because they are afraid of being caught. Give 'em a chance to do something bad that is foolproof and they grab it. So "good" people doing "bad" things? Not very likely! Just my opinion of course! Happy Wednesday! :)
