  • it is not dead, it is different. the world has changed, people want different things, they dont want to get married and have 2.5 children like the people of the 50's and 60's but now, people want different things.
  • I suppose it depends upon how one defines "The American Dream." I believe the days of parents telling their children to work hard, be dependable and stay out of trouble and you'll achieve "The American Dream," are over. THat was good during the Industrial Revolution. Now, with the Knowledge Society it's going to be a lot different. Getting paid for what one knows, not what one does. My fear is that Anglo Americans have become so passive about education and careers that other career driven immigrants with more self discipline will be the ones achieving The American Dream. This is a gross generalization and I know it, but just my thoughts.
