It depends on who your lien holder is and yes if they serve you with papers to go to court and you do not show up. The judge can issue a bench warrant out for you in some states. Some lien holders do not pursue you because it would not be worth their time or money but there are some out there who will pursue you till the end and make sure you pay them in full or give the collateral BACK. I would either pay the person you owe or give back the collateral its the right thing to do.
