i started a road trip in 1979 and it lasted for 28 yrs. 48 states,3.5 million miles.(as a long haul truckdriver)

3000 miles give or take a few. From Reno, Nv to Commack,Long Island N.Y. 3 1/2 days With hubby and all six! It was "supposed" to be a "vacation" I should have opted to stay home and had a real vacation! lol

I moved from Pensacola, Florida to <somewhere>, Texas. It took 24 hours STRAIGHT, pulling a small u-haul with no stopping except to eat and potty.
Gads, that was a looooong day.

I was a kid and my dad drove. Phoenix, AZ to Daytona Beach, FL. About a week - we stopped a lot to enjoy the sights.

Started in Newport Beach,California; north to Seattle, Washington; east to New Haven, Connecticut; south to Natural Bridge, Virginia and Nashville, Tennessee; west to Flagstaff, Arizona and Camarillo, California; then home to Alameda, CA.
Total: 9,986 miles in 6 weeks with lots of (almost daily) stops for exploration.
One (female) driver, one adult (female)friend, a 12 year old (female) and one 12 pound Shih Tzu dog(also female!).
GREAT trip. Mostly planned day-by-day. (Thought we'd be gone three weeks!) Go for it!!!

Auburn, California to El Cajon, California (700-something miles.
... on a motorcycle.
I think it took me about 15 hours but a good hour of that was getting lost time.

3,445 miles. Van Nuys (15 miles NW of Los Angeles), CA to Boston, MA via I 10 to Mobile, AL > Atlanta, GA > Bastin. ;)
I think it took us about 3 days. It was 35 years ago (2/73) so I might be just a wee bit fuzzy on some of the details. ;)

My husband and I once drove straight through from Austin, Texas to Iowa City, IA. I believe it took us 24 to 26 hours!
Do you know where to go when you want to play in the snow? Lassen Volcanic Ntl. Park in northern California. 2 days ago hubby and I did it.
