Have you read Lord of the Flies? It's about a group of boys who are left alone on a deserted island and basically turn into savages.

The Long Way Round by Ewan MacGregor and Charley Boorman. It is the diary of their 3 month motor bike ride across Europe, Central Asia, Russia and the US. It is rivetting. You can also get the DVD of the trip.
They have just done another trip called The Long Way Down. It is a southern trip through Europe and Africa. Once again, it is on DVD as well.
The great thing is that these two give off so much positivity. They are great mates, adore their wives and children and use the trips to increase awareness of people in need. (they work with UNICEF).
This is what famous actors should be doing instead of being media-whores. I am sure you will love these books.

the 'tomorrow when the war began' series is amazing. It's about a group of friends who go away camping in the bush (in australia) and when they return they find that the country has been invaded and they have walked right into the middle of the invasion. The story is about 7 books long, but is brilliant. It's all about the adventures and things they do to help the country in getting back and the different things they do to the enemy to try and save the place. It's really good and if you have a good imaginiation, you will enjoy it too!
