  • I too have same issue with 2005 ion 3. I can turn car off for awhile and works fine then out of now where the light is on and stiff driving. went to a auto place and they said the car use magnets? for power steering. Well I am waiting for when it just wont work to get it to the dealer.
  • Hi folks, don't know how much it cost you to have this repaired but mine was hefty. I called Saturn customer service to complain since it sounds like a recurring problem for many. They said that recalls start with complaints such as these and when a recall is issued, you will be reimbursed for cost of repair. Give them a call at 1-800-553-6000 to file your complaint. Will need your VIN number.
  • I had the same problem with my Ion3 and I was adviced that it could be something as simple as a fuse or the steering column. Your looking at anywhere between $90-$1000.00 at a dealer.
  • well, i am also having the same problem. My Ion will give me that stupid little PWR STEER message or whatever it is and then my steering wheel locks up. I have to turn my car off and than back on for it to work again. And it just depends on the cars mood that day if it wants to act up and how many times it wants to mess w you in one day. haha. Its very scattered.... I brought it to the saturn dealership and they said that I will only have to change the engine of the steering wheel itself...not the whole coloum. Its a new way of doing it so check it out. Its still about 360 bucks but its better than 1000. It could also be as simple as a blown fuse. check the fude block under hood. <3 hope this helps
