If I put a 3 inch body lift on a 1999 F-150 5.4 V8, would I have to get a steering extender?

    DEFINATELY, THEY DID A BODY LIFT ON MY PREVIOUS TRUCK, AND THEY DID NOT ADD THE STEERING EXTENSION AND IT RUINED MY RACK AND PINION

    To avoid stress on the linkage, steering box, etc. I would advise it. Depends on the angle of the steering shaft.

    Also keep in mind that there are seals and gaskets designed to be permanently sealed. If you break them to put in a new shaft, make sure you replace them adequately.
