He may quit, or sign with a different team. when push comes to shove and they want him back he may sign with the same team.

He is released from his contract and is no longer with the team or the major league affiliate. He is considered a free agent.

He can go to another team or stick with his full time job. Most all minor league players have a full time job, considering they don't get paid a whole lot in the minors.
