It is a housing assistant program set up by the goverment to help the thousands of working and non working americans who have money coming in, but not enough to keep a roof over their heads. The money you recieve for housing assistance is determined by how much income you have coming in. Thats how they figure out the dollar amount they are going assist you in paying your rent.

section 8 is a housing program for low income families. which is much better than public housing because u recieve a voucher that allows u to rent any house that you chose as long as the landlord accepts or is willing to accept the voucher from section 8.
