Do you ever try to figure out the underlying motive of a questioner? Does it ever occur to you that perhaps the question is merely a symptom and the underlying disease is quite serious?

Most of the time I watch and see what kind of question it is. If it involves relationship problems or suicide and things like that, I'll almost always ask the person is everything alright like I did earlier this morning. Of course the other person said it was just a question, but I felt better that at least I asked to give that person an opportunity to open up a little.

No, I dont. I dont know what is the true motive of the questioner. he may be truly innocent about the subject or even if he knows, there's nothing wrong in giving answers and opinions.
