If you're willing to spend enough money, you can swap almost *any* engine into *any* car. Practically speaking, it's usually easier to swap in engines that were already designed for the car. In your case, the 3.8L V-6 and the 5.0L V-8 were the optional engines and shared with the Fox-body Ford Mustang. Hence, those engines (esp. the 5.0) are widely available and relatively inexpensive. A 5.0L engine swap would probably be your best option. You can crank it up to almost any performance level you'd like. Note: If you do swap in a larger engine, you'll almost certainly have to put in a different transmission as the transmission for the 2.3L won't be able to handle the torque of a larger engine.
