Question

Help answer this question below.

Why shouldnt the accelerator be pressed while changing gears in a car? Does the clutch separate the gear shaft and engine while we change it and the accelerator combines both? Or is there another reason?

Too much torque will be generated when you engage the clutch if you keep the accelerator down. Either your wheels will spin and you could loose control or from a dead stop you might even snap your driveshaft or CV shaft. Either way what your doing will be a costly.
