  • Sorry this is your first citation and it occured in a school zone. here's the information you need: contact the traffic violation bureau and explain the situation. the bureau will re-assign a new court date to you and to the officer. both will be notified. first time violators qualify for a four hour defensive driving class. once you complete the class, your citation will be dismissed. neither your drivers license or your auto insurance will be effected.
  • All you need to do is go to court and say that you were only going 20, not thirty. If they give you any lip just ask to see the last time that the radar gun was calibrated. If it's more than a year then your off the hook. If he says he didn't use one then your off the hook. Also tell them that he gave you a ticket and purposely wrote down the wrong date to try and get you in more trouble and you are being victimized.
  • It depends on where you are. Here in British Columbia, if the issuing officer gets ANYTHING wrong on the ticket, it gets thrown out. However you don't get a date for court with the ticket, here you get that later in the mail. I would go to the courts on a day that they are open and ask them. There they will give you a new date or possibly even throw out the ticket. Hope this helps.
  • Nothing ! just turn up on that day, I think they will write to you though.
