Help answer this question below.
simple. tulips.
Sweet peas, are fantastic, especially for Easter. :) What did you end up planting?
depends on where you live. tulips are too much trouble. morning glories come back through seeding-they're not perinneals. pansies are good cause they stay till the heat. lantana will generally stay year after year as a perinneal. zinas, vincas and periwinkles well also generally come back on their own.
Plant some morning glory seeds near a fence or trellis. They are easy to grow and will vine and produce beautiful blooms. Gladiolus is a good bulb that you can plant that will come back every year, but it doesn't stay in constant bloom.
Are you looking for something that is an annual (will only last one season) or something that will come back year after year. Since you mentioned spring flowers I will stick with annuals:
Dahlias
Verbena
Poppies
Marigolds
Cosmos
If you have a shady area try something like impatiens.
Also, browse through these annual flowers and see which kind you like the best: http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/annuals/list1.html
