1985. "Town" scenes in the movie were filmed in Marshville, North Carolina. Although its been many years since i have seen the movie. I liked the ending, where he is walking through the field. And also when Cecelia and her sister, are playing a version of "paddycake".

I saw that movie twice when it was in the theatres. I was in 5th or 6th grade. My favorite part is when Mista is in the immigration office making arrangements for Nettie to come home with Celie's children. I'm tearing up remembering it.
