  • I tried Abreva on mine, it seemed to relieve some of the pain and discomfort pretty quickly. It's expensive (around $20 for a tube around the size of a quarter) but I'd say worth it.
  • We've tried all the expensive stuff out there and none of it worked for my daughter. She uses the little tub (not tube) of carmex from the drug store. It is $1.29, and it dries up her cold sores faster than anything we've ever tried! I've gotten her that one day stuff, Abreva, and everything else on the shelf, and Carmex works the best for her.
  • i hate those, and i hate the way they feel. this might sound like suicide but my nana used to make me put a jalapeno seed or the oil at least on it. it hurt like hell and made me cry when i was little. but it was gone the next morning after i cried myself to sleep. - and it didn't hurt anymore after that night if you can get past it if you're not a bit sadistic like my nana, i suggest tanac, but it takes a bit longer
  • I second, or third, Abreva. Small amount goes a long way.
  • If you put ice on it it willn keep the swelling down along with the redness and pain. I have heard Abreva works well too.
  • DAB SOME AFTERSHAVE ON IT,
  • Valtrex-next time take a Valtrex pill as soon as you feel you're getting a cold sore and take one every day tills you feel it no more-if you catch it before it breaks the skin it will never even show its ugly face-its the same drug used for herpes.
  • There is a perscription cream called zoverax, comes in pill and cream form the cream is most effective.
  • take brandy..its works trust me
