  • Their parents are generally the ones who pay. But the blame here should really be shifted onto the public relations firms that target children and manipulate them into become wasteful consumers. They adjust their policies to cater for us impressionable poor people, and make their goods deceptively cheap. Consumerism is killing the planet, make no mistake.
  • Many teens and pre-teens want what's "in". They want to look the hottest or the best. They want the best haircut, the best clothes, the best makeup, the best boyfriend or girlfriend, the best EVERYTHING. Marketers know this and therefore target them because of course they will be vulnerable. Another thing is that teens and pre-teens are going to be the people who are going to be here when adults are gone -- so therefore, more money. It makes sense. It's a manipulation game and I find it pretty stupid. I also happen to be a teenager. Yeah... sure.. parents might not have a lot of money... but a lot of parents these days don't know how to discipline their children and say "NO!" This society is so materialistic, it disgusts some people. I've personally accepted it. Of course not every parent and not every teen and pre-teen fits into this stereotype, but here is my answer.
