Those damn Canadians, always being Canadian and stuff. Really it all goes down to popular culture and whats accepted at the time. Right now it's accepted outside America to ridicule Americans-whether or not what they are ridiculed for is fact or not. Within the next ten years that will change. As in America it is accepted in some circles to ridicule mexicans because the economy is bad, they have become a scapegoat. Sad but true. Once the economy bounces back this wont be the case anymore, they will be accepted again. Edit: BLAME CANADA!

Bad cultural experiences. An American sees a Mexican immigrant get a job they applied for and soon all Mexicans are lazy uncivilised bastards. The same American watches a British cop show after watching CSI for the past five years and is unable to express his cultural frustration. An Australian grows up seeing American culture and corporate influence in every part of his daily life and suddenly all Americans are fat, lazy idiots. :(

is it ok if I strongly dislike George W. and his rich friends
-
I think they are as deep as bathwater. I think they are 1. Judgmental 2. That they lump everyone into categories unfairly 3. That they are not all that bright or they would realize the ludicrousness of their generalities.
-
I think they're very narrow minded to be labelling the entire country of people, based on the actions of a few. Perhaps they became conditioned at an early age to hold disregard for people and things they do not understand or maybe they are simply ignorant of learning and broadening their horizons as adults. I'm not sure really, but I think it's a shame to be so limited in one's outlook.
-
Narrow minded, misguided, gullible fools that probably are easily influenced and as such can be brain washed into misjudging a whole nation. That's how I imagine suicide bombers are trained.
-
I look down on all of you for you are small and insignificant where as I am superior and have an enormous penis.
-
Lousy Americans??? Dose that include us Hillbiley's--and we look down at noone---unless your at the bottom of the hill!!!! Or if u drink the last jug...that could be dangerious........grrrrrrrrr
-
I think that they lack a good sense of their own ego. I think that by putting other people down they hope to raise themselves in their eyes and other's eyes..but it doesn't work:(
-
I don't know much about North America, other than what I see on television but here is a European view: Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian, and it is all organised by the Swiss. Hell is where the cooks are British, the mechanics French, the lovers Swiss, the police German, and it is all organised by the Italians.

How about "those Nigerian rip off merchants" since even Ebay banned them from using the site. But you are right, in most cases (exluding the Brits) they are "only" describing 75% of the population :) Btw, you can now add "those filthy Neapolitans" to the bunch! I can smell them from here LOL. (I guess this comment will cost me a few points over the coming week, oh well :)
-
I just think I am happy to not be in their skin mostly
-
i find it annoying, and those type of people are judgmental and i sometimes feel embarrassed for them with their biased comments.
-
One of the most depressing (or funny, depending on how seriously you take some of it) things you can do is read some of the comments on You Tube. It doesn't matter what it is you look up, if you scroll down the comments they will usually somehow have turned into an us versus them argument, either between different races or different nationalities, and most deal in the typical, usually false stereotypes that those who are hard of thinking like to portray. The worst thing is that if one Brit says something insulting to the US (for example) then it turns into a country versus country war, instead of the opinion of one person. From a Brit who apparently (according to those on You Tube)spends all day having tea and crumpets and talks like Hugh Grant.....

It's in two stages, I believe, the first is ignorance and/or fear. the second the intellectual racist is pridefull of his thoughts so of course he is better. I sure also a lot of it is "I'm going to get mine and those lousy (fill in blank) are not going to get in my way."
-
people just do it, i was playing xbox live, call of duty 5 world at war, playing nazi zombies, and some dude asked me '' why are they screaming'' to which i replied '' youd be screaming too if you were German. ''
-
I'm sorry but I can't help it i'm so much more intelligent and superior I cant see anyone unless I look down.
-
I dislike generalizations of any kind even in the sub groupings of those. People are people and it does not matter Colour, Nationality or Creed you will find good and bad in all of them. I think the people that discriminate in such a manner are far too judgemental for my view.
-
This is one of those things that pisses me off more than just about anything else. To answer your question: most people are so quick to write off others based on generalizations because they themselves are too lazy to enlighten and educated themselves about the target of their derision. It's much easier to blindly judge and hate than it is to understand.
-
well over Xbox live people do it to me so I do it back, its not that i look down at them or feel superior i just stand my ground and give them a taste of their own medicine in a stubborn way
-
They get to be that way by missing the fact that they feel down on themselves first.
-
They are pathetic. If that's the best insult they can come up with, they obviously aren't that bright. Like the numbskull who posted a question today about hating Americans. I just responded to him that Osama Bin Laden does too -- same class of character in my opinion. LOL!!
-
It is just like blind nationalism, in reverse; blind anti-nationalism. The same type of narrow-minded emotion-based thinking which leads one to conclude that their country is definitively the greatest in every possible way, or that their country's people are definitively the smartest/hardest working...also leads to conclusions such as "country X is the worst in the world" or "the people in country X are all the same - dumb/lazy/evil/whatever". Most people only consider the positive aspects of nationalism, ignoring the inevitable negative consequence: when you say you are the best, you are automatically implying that others are inferior.
-
I imagine a comment like that is made by someone who knows "a few" people from the country. It's ignorant to attempt to put all citizens of a country into one category like that.
-
It's a us verse them mentality. It's human nature.
-
Ok sometimes I say those things about a certain country but only as a joke because well many people like to make fun of my ethnicity as a joke as well. To those who actually do mean it well I just think they are too insecure about their own race and ethnicity so they like to tease others to make themselves feel more superior. It is like they have something similar to "little man syndrome". They must be on the attack to feel powerful.
