  • So theres some kind of social barrier in that area?
  • Nassau, where I live, is closer to Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. There are more industrial areas. Nassau is a mix of rich and poor towns, trees and concrete jungle. Houses are closer together and the towns have more of a city-like feel. Kids from Nassau go to the city all of the time. There is more cultural and religious diversity. In Suffolk County, there is more land. The houses are spread out. There are extremely rich towns and mansions. There are poor towns as well but the houses are far apart. There aren't as many apartment buildings or housing projects. There are fields and vineyards. Most of Suffolk has more of a laid-back country feel to it. The reason some people from either county don't like each other is because there lives are very different, even though they live on the same island. I have plenty of friends from Suffolk. Most of them ended up moving to Nassau or elsewhere because no offense, but Suffolk is boring. You hardly go to Suffolk to visit your friends, they usually come to Nassau, haha.
  • correction it is the south shore vs the north shore, not nassau vs suffolk, just ask billy joel who said you either date a cool girl from the south shore [me :)]or a rich girl from the north shore
