  • your record follows you where ever you go.try canada.
  • Part of the agreement when you lost your license most likely included a clause that stated you would not seek a license in another state. And I can speak for the state of Georgia that when you obtain your license you sign a statement that states you do not have a revoked license in any other state.
  • 45 states share drivers license information with each other, through the DLC (Drivers License Compact). You need to go to one of the other five: Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Tennessee, or Massachusetts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver_License_Compact However, you are limited to driving only within those five states! If you are pulled over in one of the 45 DLC states, they will instantly see your Vermont record, and treat you as having a suspended license. It makes no difference what license or paperwork you're carrying. When travelling abroad, most states will report any traffic violations to your home state, through the NRVC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-Resident_Violator_Compact The only five that don't report are: Michigan, Wisconsin, California, Montana, and Alaska. So ... If you still have your Vermont drivers license in hand (albeit suspended), you can use it to drive in Michigan or Wisconsin right now. If pulled over, there, they will not see your Vermont record (they are not on DLC). And if given a citation, they will not report the citation to Vermont (they are not NRVC). This assumes that they do not use the NDR (National Driver Register). I don't know if the NDR is used directly, or only by mail. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Driver_Register If you get an actual Michigan or Wisconsin license, nothing changes at all! Once a "DLC" police officer knows your real name and birthday, they just look you up in the computer and see your Vermont record. No matter what license or paperwork you're carrying, if you're suspended in Vermont then you're suspended in all 45 DLC states. Your real name and birthday gives it away. You might look into getting a Turkish drivers license. I've heard they just give them out to whoever applies, and it's all by mail. At least they used to. Or, do you have a friend or relative who looks a lot like you?
