You're reading Why can't I import videos to Windows movie maker? It says " "this file" could not be imported. Unspecified error."

I try to import videos that are .avi by clicking "import video" and clicking the video i want to import. then the error shows up.
"C:\Documents and Settings\Samuel Paul\Desktop\My Videos\Halo\halo 2006-03-24 20-37-37-87.avi could not be imported. Unspecified error"

It may be your Windows has a broken 'codec' (a small program that deciphers how the film should be shown in windows) you could do worse than get the new K-LITE Mega Codec Pack for Windows XP.. its free and will allow your system to play nearly all film types.
