    Use your computer's "hosts" file:

There are many levels where you could block it:

Browser-level: there is a firefox plugin that will ban sites. IE has a restricted-sites setting.

Computer-level: there is a "hosts" file which can be used to block URLs.

Router-leve or firewall-level: many routers and hardware firewalls have options to block sites.

The last option is best, in my opinion.
