Uh...I'm not gonna swear by my answer, but...
I think it's just that they have some kind of....genetic (I think that's the word)...programming to know which way they need to go...

Yes this answer is correct! Very much the same way a newborn baby kangaroo knows to crawl up into its mothers pouch and nurse. Or the way some baby lizards know to run into poo to prtect themselves from their carnival parents. God created them this way. Instinct guides and directs all of God's creatures including us if we would let it.
