I'm taking the afternoon off. It will be a sparkling clear day and the temperature on the Capitol porch will be an unseasonably warm 52 degrees. During President Obama's address, Dick Cheney will grunt and snarl, pick up George W in a feat of inhuman strength, cast the miscreant over the rail and watch him fall lightly to his feet and then gag and choke to death on the half-smoke he snuck out of the motorcade to buy on Penn. Ave. a few minutes before, expiring quietly and anonymously below the stately magnolias, whereupon Dick's cybernetic heart-pump will seize and he will cackle his last as a thin wisp of smoke emerges his left nostril. All of this will go unnoticed to anybody but Oprah Winfrey, who in attempting to keep her composure, will send a projectile of nonfat raspberry yogurt from her nose splattering harmlessly on the tail of Barack's jacket. Noticing this, Bill Clinton will make an off-color remark to Sen. Clinton, who will elbow him in the groin. Yes, it will be a good day.
