Also, be sure to see that your website pages have plenty of quality content, and that the words for which you would like your site to be found are repeated a few times in the content, but not too many of them either! Use synonyms where possible too. I also don't use flash or include too many images. Search engine spiders look for text not images.
Squiddo is very good if you use keywords for your URL. Don't forget to bookmark your article and promote it.
Social Bookmarking and Directory Submission for a start. But, apart from this Blog Commenting, Article Submission, Active Blooging, etc. are of equal importance.
