They go hand in hand. You sometimes need to spend the time to save money, but at others you need to be somewhere fast, or get something done fast to make more money.

For financial reasons, I often have to spend time to save money, but in a pinch I'll switch.

I'd rather spend time to save money, to a point. I (hopefully) have more time than I do money.

What a great question. I would say that I spend money to save time now but that has not always been the case. Plus, I'll probably spend more time to save efforts later.
