Actually those gift cards are marketed by a company that goes by the name of Blackhawk which is a Subsidiary of, yes, Safeway Inc. It is weird when you look at Safeway and the way it is growing. It is some sort of Vertical integration. That is, they are growing by cornering each and every angle of retail growth. while everybody else is busy opening up stores, they are busy investing in ventures such as distribution (Safeway is already trying to market its own in house brands such as O organics and eating right brands). Mhhh! wonder what direction this will take. will Safeway end up being another "Walmart"?
The companies themselves. Like.. how Safeway has a bunch of starbucks cards or something.. They order those.. fron starbucks. in massive amounts. lol. So yeah. Its possible that there is a company that specializes in goft cards.. like ticketmaster.. of gift cards. maybe. not sure. So theres my guess.. now im just rambling. :) haha

You're reading You may have noticed that Kroger and Safeway grocery stores now have a big display of gift cards for a bunch of different merchants. My question is what company provides that gift card service to Kroger and Safeway. Some sort of gift card broker?
