To an extent, I suppose that's a sign of maturing. Blind or unquestioning acquiescence to authority is never a good thing, though. Maybe the ability to discern when to respect authority and when to stand up for yourself is closer to what a mature adult should do.

Acceptance of authority is part of learning to fill the role of a "Mature Adult" in modern society, but that has less to do with the objective definition of a "Mature Adult" than it does with the lives modern society forces people into.

In my military time, one of the phrases was, "You must be a good follower before you can be a good leader." I believe that one has been around since the continental army.

True in general, but it all depends on the authority. It's best to be able to accept it, but to also be intelligent enough to know when to question it.
