Depends on the mood I am in... But I will generally listen to any thing Japanese or anything pre 1990 in country.

Rock. The number of rock songs I like is vastly larger than the number of country songs I like. Country songs, however, often have have more "heart" to them. Quality or quantity? I go with quantity, because those few high quality songs will get old much more quickly.
-
"ROCK" and roll, all the way!
-
Rock through and through my friends. One, rock has a better sound to it, two its a little faster paced (my preference) and three, all the rock stars die in all sorts of ways. Either completely ridiculous or pretty pitiful.
-

I prefer Rock. I was raised on Rock and that seems to be what I connect with. I dated a 'country' girl for awhile and was exposed to alot of country. I have an appreciation for modern country but choose not to listen to it.

It's a false dichotomy. Old-time country music is no longer called that- now it's known as bluegrass, folk, etc. What we think of as old-school country music nowadays is music that was played by large bands in nightclubs and radio stations back in the beginnings of radio. Much of it owes its existence to the invention of the electric guitar and bass. For these reasons, to me it's not really "country", and 90% of it is crap. Of course, 90% of rock is also crap, and rock arguably would not exist if not for the invention of electric instruments and amplification. It's just as inauthentic as modern country music is, which is not necessarily a bad thing as the "authentic" stuff is still around :) Both rock and country often pretend to be something they aren't, though that pretension is not unique to those genres. In summation, both. Also jazz. chamber music, symphonic music, hip hop, bebop, trance, and what have you. No opera though. Ick.

Alternative rock music.

Linda Joy I like rock music and country music but I can't go to sleep very well listening to rock. Country is better for that but lately I've been listening to Christian music.
