This is more a comment than an answer. I like this question. For all the people who think that just because MAN wrote the words and don't believe that they came from God, this is a good argument for them. Thank you for the fresh look. Just so you know I agree if He created EVERYTHING then it is reasonable to think that this would be accurate. Cause he would TELL them what to write down. Now free will comes into play but to the extent that the person had a choice to write it not what to write.

One would expect a divine being who is all-powerful to be able to compose his own word conherently, even if it was written by many different authors. But no, what you get is a collection of books that look exactly like they were all written by different people.

Would it be reasonable to think that God could create the universe, and everything in it, but would be incapable of causing a book to be written ...... which would refer to God in a human, gender specific way, with the generic pronoun "he" (his, him, etc.)?

Good valid premise. People who assume the bible is literally true and believe in the supernatural and the unnatural would would identify with dysrationalia.

The bible is an accurate representation of God's thoughts. But the bible is Spiritually discerned. To understand it you need the help of the Holy Spirit. It's really amazing that if you sincerely seek God, confessing your sins, repenting, and asking forgiveness, God will use the bible to direct you.

i am in complete agreement with this line of thought. unfortunately, many do not share this fact. a person can be very intelligent and educated, however be in ignorance of God's existence. we live in a world that is controlled by a being that has blinded the majority to the existence of the Creator. this same Creator made it possible the bible be written as a manual for mankind to know how to guide itself.

No, I don't think it is reasonable and neither do a lot of people with a varied belief system. But that is the nature of faith. You need to believe.

The evangelical position is that the bible is Sufficient in its inspiration. It isn't as clear as you would like simply because God did not will it to be that way.

Would it be reasonable to think that God could create the universe, and everything in it, but would be incapable of causing a book to be written which is not entirely literal, and requires interpretation?
