  • Common sense is logic Science is much more in depth than simply logic. It's complexity.
  • Common sense is things you just "know" are true, and science requires formal, repeatable proof.
  • Science depends on measurements. If you cannot put numbers on it, it is not science, it is gossip. It may be correct gossip, but it is still gossip. "Common sense" depends on gut feel, on a lack of measurement. Sometimes, science contradicts common sense (relativity, quantum mechanics). Common sense told some people the world was flat - science proved otherwise. Common sense said the sun went round the earth. Common sense said that things stopped moving when you stopped pushing them (in the days before ball bearings etc).
  • One can be learned from a book. The other can't.
