Does anyone else feel that the Medical Conditions section for Pets is dangerous by encouraging people to ask Answerbag for medical advice on their pets as an alternative to taking said pet into a veterinarians office?

Yes and no. People are going to do nothing anyway, whether answerbag has that category or not. I would suggest the questions about ill pets arrived here before the category did too. If you remove that you should equally remove the one for humans as people often don't take themselves to the doctor when they need to. I also think there are legitimate questions within that category - If my cat was sick and had been treated, I might like to ask other peoples experiences with the same problem - and it would be appropriate to go in that category. Its a good thought, but I don't think the existence of the category itself causes the problem - people themselves cause the problem regardless.
