My 13 year old chihuahua has a swollen face and is losing vast amounts of hair. She seems really sick and some times can't go up the stairs. She is constantly scratching her face and whimpering. What is happening to her?

As with every other animal question on this site, I'll say this. The afflictions and diseases, especially upon Canines, exibit and express so many similar symptoms that a diagnosis simply off of description of three rather common symptoms isn't reliably possible. In other words, take the damn thing to a vet. Asking us is only going to hasten it's death.

Sounds like you need to take her to the vet and have her checked. When something is seriously wrong with your pet go straight to the vet!

well...most likely it may be alergic to something...but the first thing uwant ot do, is go to google and find out, if u cant find it....go to the vet, they will know...

Possibly an allergic reaction to being stung by an insect or something it's eaten. But you need to get it to the vet asap. Don't waste anymore time. Let us know how it goes.

Swollen face typically means an allergic reaction, and hair loss is definitely allergies. Take her to the vet and get a cortizone shot and she should clear up right away. good luck.
