  • Yep, I said this before and I'm sure I was not the first to wonder. A downrate should require a reason.
  • Yes, because than the question or answer could be rated eduacational
  • Yep! I think we deserve to know...
  • Most of the DR's I see, are usually invalid. Whoever does this as rule, generally has no idea what the question is about. I see a lot of DR's to question where there really isn't a scientific exact answer. Then again perhaps he didn't like the question or answer and in his/her mind it didn't help them. Don't be consumed by DR's, I don't think they will kick you off this site because of it.
  • Who cares? Turn off your ratings notification and forget about it.
  • A reason would be nice but a lot people simply downrate answers because they don't like them. It could also be a troll who is doing it after spending a night out stealing hubcaps.
  • No. It would result in retaliatory downrates. I've seen that happen. In one case, I've seen the two users insulting each other and calling each other names. What I find amusing is that with the downrates that I've been seeing here, I barely see explanations. It seems those who want an explanation for the downrates they've received don't explain why they downrate others. Practice what you preach people. As it is, I don't believe in DRs.
  • This issue is another one that has been beaten to death. See http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/113240 AB used to require comments with DRs.
