Is there a way to back up PS2 games without chipping or swapping disks?

I saw a harddrive you can put in the older (not slimline) ps2's that came with a software dvd that enabled you to save whole games to the harddrive, no mods. I don't know what happened to it, it was a while back. Sony might have lawsuited them out. I can't recall who made it, the hardrive could be pretty big. Actually, you can hook any harddrive to that model ps2, you just got to get the connections right, then the software. E-Bay maybe?
