Questions requiring perspective are more popular than questions satisfied by factual "square" answers that merely reflect ability to "google" it. Afterall AB is a social arena as much as an information source.

Questions in the social categories generally require an opinion, which potentially everyone is able to offer. Questions in the expert categories usually require specific knowledge that not everyone has. Also, once the expert question is answered, further answers are usually not required so not as many points are garnered.

More people can relate to social questions and they are more fun/easier to answer.

Usually once a question in the expert section is answered there is no reason to revisiti it. Also, if you are not interested in that particular topic, you are likely to avoid it. However, questions that have a social nature are more likely to appeal to a greater number of people because there is often not a CORRECT answer and more people deal with with these broader issues.
