Honestly, I don't think that a vet is allowed to destroy your dog because you couldn't pay for the bill. I would look into that.

Try another vet or animal hospital. Some of them have funds to do things like that with "scholarships" or as charity. It may be that she can be healed, and she may lose the leg, but that's no excuse to kill her! I wouldn't go back to that vet again.

For starters the vet can't destroy an animal without your permission. You need to find another vet. I was very short of cash one time when my cat got hit by a car. I took her to my vet and with complications that happened she had to have a leg amputated. This came to the tune of $800. He was a very caring man and let me pay it off as I could and I was able to clear up the bill quite quickly. This was over 20 years ago and I'm still using this same vet today when I need to.

first of all i think your vet needs a visit from the veterineries board to be tolled that just because someone cant pay that hes or she cant just distroy a dog, you should get on to the animal welfare and tell them your storry or the rspca, john

My only suggestion is if you are close to a vet school, call them. When we were in college at Auburn we couldn't afford a vet and got help from the vet school. That was a long time ago so I don't know how things would be now.
