Both I suspect. I ask for knowledge. Click on my profile and check the kind of questions I ask. Some of my questions are frivolous, and it does seem that the more frivolous questions do seem to get more points.

Usually knowledge but sometimes when they ask for knowledge instead of points people like to flag that question.
