I've been a smoker for more than 20 years now. I want to quit for good. I've tried several times and the best I've done was about 1 month. Any advice out there?

Yes ...just two days back my neighbor ....was a good man ...died of lung cancer ....he suffered so much that in the end I could see only his bones and no flesh at all ....This was not to offend you or scare you but does this ring a bell to you ? :-)

Try seeking advice from your doctor. He can prescribe something called Chantix. I know smokers that smoked for decades, and they all were helped by this particular medication. It helps to block the recptors in the brain that thrive on the nicotine. After a few weeks, your desire to stop smoking will cease. Good luck and what a great choice!

CHANTIX.....The new prescription drug.....IT WORKS.......I had tried and tried to quit and so had several other people I know, and that did the job........It's about &120.00 dollars........They say you need to take the starter pack, and then a matinence pack for 2 more moths, but everyone I know, including myself didn't need to go back for the matinence pack......Most quit within 2 weeks. There is also a program that the Drug company that makes CHANTIX offers that allows you to get the medication for free if your income qualifies you for it. You should check it out!!

I quit cold turkey three years ago.It wasn't easy.Sometimes I had to fight the urge to smoke minute by minute.It was well worth it.Good luck.
