  • well it shouldnt be a problem as long as you alternate what fruits and vegetables are in the salad, and eat legumes for iron etc. also eat a healthy amount of food each day, and opt for the natural type of yoghurt
  • its kind of bad my health teacher told me i had to have in the least 1-2 things in the food group with the excepion of the top 1 (fats, oils, and sweets)
  • i don't think so - but you should add some whole grains here and there and some lean meats or other proteins.
  • That sounds pretty healthy... but make sure you're not eating too few calories. If it's too few, you could slow down your metabolism and end up burning your lean body weight instead of burning fat, which is worse than not dieting at all. First, determine your "maintenance level" of daily calories -- the baseline number of calories your body needs to function wihtout gaining or losing weight. Make sure your daily calorie level is no less than 15-20% below that number. . This calculator can help you calculate that number: http://www.caloriecontrol.org/calcalcs.html
  • Just eat 3 squares a day, no snacks. and walk. Take good care of your body. You only get one chance!:)
  • Eat normal foods but reduce the portion size to about 2/3rd the first 2 weeks; to 1/2 after that. Eliminate fatty food. Eat 2 slices of whole grain bread a day. Drink skim milk. Eliminate sugar/soda/candy/chocolate. Reduce red meat to once a week. Use extra virgin olive oil/balsamic vinegar as a salad dressing. No fat yoghurt. Lots of fresh fruit/salads/veggies. Walk up the stairs at work or in malls or in your apartment building. Park at the far side of the parking lot. Walk briskly for 15 mins daily in week 1; Two 15 min. walks after that. Turn up your music at home and dance every night until you are panting. Good luck!
  • Stick with the five food groups and the food pyramid that they teach you at school ( and everywhere else ). Lack of any of those food groups will cause problems. (eg, find a serious vegetarian and see what they have to eat in order to avoid meat. It's not simply a matter of not eating meat.) If you have a narrow diet and start feeling weak, try eating from the food groups you have ignored and see what happens. Remember, you don't have to eat huge portions of those other foods, that's why the food pyramid was developed. Eat as much fruit and vegies as you like. You'll fill yourself up before you eat too much. Also: A workmate told me that he had to lose weight and the doctor's orders were to continue what he was doing but go for a one hour walk each night after the evening meal. He says it worked. And my opinion: When you sit around all day, your body can't be bothered burning fat. When you exercise, your body can't be bothered lugging around excess weight and so burns off all the fat. So make sure you exercise. Experiment, listen to what your body tells you. A craving for sugar may indicate a sugar addiction but a craving for beef, beetroot, fish, oranges or any other healthy food is your body telling you that it is lacking something. Good luck and have fun!
